Overview

AutoCAD is computer-aided design (CAD) software that architects, engineers, and construction professionals rely on to create precise 2D and 3D drawings. Draft, annotate, and design 2D geometry and 3D models with solids, surfaces, and mesh objects. Automate tasks such as comparing drawings, adding blocks, and creating schedules. Customize with add-on applications and APIs
 

Licensing Information

No additional licensing required. It is available as a free download for educational use for faculty and students. Access is available from the AutoCAD website.
 

Pre-Installation Notes

You must use the Autodesk student website and create an account in order to download and install the student version of AutoCAD.
Once installed, you will activate your copy the first time that you run AutoCAD.
You will then need to configure AutoCAD for use in APSC 1223.
The version of AutoCAD were are using is only available on computers running Windows. If you have a computer running MacOS, you will need to look into installing Boot Camp and dual-booting MacOS and Windows in your machine. *this is contentious*

 

Installation Instructions

  1. Go to the Autodesk Student Website.
  2. Scroll down and find AutoCAD and then click on "Select".

    3.  Select Student and fill in the fields on the next page 

  4. The address for Acadia University is:
       15 University Ave.
        Wolfville, NS
        B4P 2R6
        https://acadiau.ca
  5.  Enter your graduation date, then click "Continue"
  6.  Once you are verified, you will be asked to create a password for your Autodesk account
  7.  When the account is signed in, you will be brought back to select Autocad
  8.  On the next page, you will click on "Submit" on the right side
  9.  Select "Access Products" then "Download"
  10.  Follow the instructions for installing Autocad once it has been downloaded.
