Overview
Each computer has its own "network address", which is based on a unique number registered to every computer that is called a MAC address or Physical address. In some cases, this number needs to be registered on our network before gaining access to our network on campus.
To find your MAC address please follow the instructions for the appropriate operating system, found below.

Windows
- Click the start menu and select "Type here to search".
- In the search field, type: cmd
- Click "Command Prompt"
- Once in the black screen, type: ipconfig /all and hit enter,
- look for the long alpha-numeric number listed as "physical address" and copy this number down. You may have to scroll up to find it.
Please Note: Some computers may have both a wired and wireless card. The wired card will have "Local Area Connection" in the heading. For the wireless card, the heading will be something like "Wireless LAN adapter".

Mac OS X
- Click on the Apple Menu in the top left corner and then on System Settings
- Click on Network in the left column
- Click on Wi-Fi
- Find the network in the list of Known Networks and click the three dots next to the name of the network
- Click on Network Settings...
- The MAC address will be listed under Wi-Fi address
Linux
- Open a terminal / console
- Type the the command: ifconfig
- In the "ifconfig" output you will find the HWaddr numbers. Record this number.
