MacOS Wifi Diagnostics Information

The following article will describe how to collect information from your MacOS device that is needed for diagnosing your Wifi issues.
Please follow these instructions under the advisement of a Technology Service staff.

Wifi connection information:

  1. Press and hold down your Alt/Option keyboard button.
  2. While still depressing the Alt/Option key, click on your Wifi icon on your dock.
    This will display extra information needed by our technicians on your screen.
  3. While this extra information is still being displayed, depressing the Command ⌘ key + Shift key, then press 3.
    This will create a screenshot of your entire desktop that you can attach it to one the following:
  • In a reply to a previous email regarding your outstanding ticket.
  • Directly in the hub on your outstanding ticket.

 

Creating a diagnostic report:

  1. Press and hold down your Alt/Option keyboard button.
  2. While still depressing the Alt/Option key, click on your Wifi icon on your dock.
  3. Select the Create Diagnostic Report...
  4. This report will take approximately 4 minutes to generate and no progress of the generation process will be displayed.
  5. After 3-4 minutes your finder window will open with a file selected.
  6. This file will be named WirelessDiagnostic_YourSerialNumber_date_time.tar.gz
  7. This file can be attached it to one the following:
  • In a reply to a previous email regarding your outstanding ticket.
  • Directly in the hub on your outstanding ticket.

 

Finding your OS version:

  1. Click the apple icon on your dock.
  2. Select About This Mac 
  3. In the pop up window you will see your Version (10.13.x or 10.14.x) listed under the OS title.
  4. This information can be attached it to one the following:
  • In a reply to a previous email regarding your outstanding ticket.
  • Directly in the hub on your outstanding ticket.
