The following article will describe how to collect information from your MacOS device that is needed for diagnosing your Wifi issues.
Please follow these instructions under the advisement of a Technology Service staff.
Wifi connection information:
- Press and hold down your Alt/Option keyboard button.
- While still depressing the Alt/Option key, click on your Wifi icon on your dock.
This will display extra information needed by our technicians on your screen.
- While this extra information is still being displayed, depressing the Command ⌘ key + Shift key, then press 3.
This will create a screenshot of your entire desktop that you can attach it to one the following:
- In a reply to a previous email regarding your outstanding ticket.
- Directly in the hub on your outstanding ticket.
Creating a diagnostic report:
- Press and hold down your Alt/Option keyboard button.
- While still depressing the Alt/Option key, click on your Wifi icon on your dock.
- Select the Create Diagnostic Report...
- This report will take approximately 4 minutes to generate and no progress of the generation process will be displayed.
- After 3-4 minutes your finder window will open with a file selected.
- This file will be named WirelessDiagnostic_YourSerialNumber_date_time.tar.gz
- This file can be attached it to one the following:
- In a reply to a previous email regarding your outstanding ticket.
- Directly in the hub on your outstanding ticket.
Finding your OS version:
- Click the apple icon on your dock.
- Select About This Mac
- In the pop up window you will see your Version (10.13.x or 10.14.x) listed under the OS title.
- This information can be attached it to one the following:
- In a reply to a previous email regarding your outstanding ticket.
- Directly in the hub on your outstanding ticket.
