Body
No — you cannot switch between the domestic and international student health plans unless your residency status officially changes. Here’s how it works:
-
🏠 Domestic students are automatically enrolled in the ASU Health & Dental Plan
-
🌍 International students are automatically enrolled in the ASU Medical & Dental Plan
-
🔄 Switching between plans is not allowed unless you change your residency status (e.g. become a permanent resident or Canadian citizen)
-
🧾 If you already have comparable private insurance, you may be eligible to opt out during the opt-out period — but this does not allow you to switch plans
To confirm your plan or ask about opt-out eligibility, contact tanya.comeau@acadiau.ca or visit the ASU Supports Office in the Student Union Building.
