Why didn’t you approve my student loan?🔹 Why was my student loan rejected even though I applied? 🔹 What went wrong with my loan application?

Acadia does not approve student loans if the information on your loan application doesn’t match what we have in our records. If your loan was denied, it’s likely due to one of the following reasons:

🚫 Common Reasons Your Loan Was Not Approved

  • The program listed on your loan application does not match your registered program at Acadia.
  • You are in a Co-op program, but your loan application does not mention Co-op.
  • You are not enrolled in enough credits to qualify for full-time or part-time loan status.
    • ⚠️ Wait-listed courses do not count toward your credit total.

✅ What You Need to Do

  • Contact your provincial student loans office to correct the information on your loan.
  • Once corrected, your loan must be resubmitted to Acadia for approval.

📘 Helpful Definitions

  • Co-op program: A program that includes work placements as part of your degree.
  • Wait-listed course: A course you’ve requested but are not officially enrolled in yet.
  • Provincial loans office: The government office in your province that manages student loans (e.g., NS Student Assistance, OSAP, StudentAid BC).
