Use Case

This program will scan and score tests using the bubble sheets that can be downloaded and printed from this article.

Explanation

Also attached are the instructions for getting the tests ready to be read by the software.  You can either scan them at your own departmental copier or use the copier in our office.

Instructions

Overview:
These instructions will walk you through the following general procedure for grading your test:

  • Scanning your student’s answer sheets on the Konica Minolta MFP with all the proper options for the scanning session.
  • The scanned files will then be automatically sent to marking system to perform the actual marking and analysis of the scanned test.
  • Once on the marking system, you will be allowed to make corrections of the scanned tests for mistakes or answers the marking system cannot determine correctly.
  • The marking system will grade your test and then generate a standard report that can be printed on the Service Desk copier. Other reports are available.
  • The marking system will then delete your scanned files from the computer as a cleanup measure.

Scanning Procedure:

  1. Place your Scantron test answer sheets into the Konica MFP’s scanning hopper (maximum 100 sheets per scan session). Be sure the test sheets are face up and the test’s answer key on top. The scanned tests will be automatically sent to the test scanning system once scanned.
  2. Log or Secure Tap into the Konica Minolta copier located at the Service Desk and then select “Scan”.
  3. In the Address Book, select “Scantron Test” option.
  4. Select 1-sided (for use with Acadia 100 question sheet) or 2-sided (for use with Acadia 300 question sheet).
  5. Change Resolution to “200x200dpi” (this reduces the marking time).
  6. Change the Color to “Gray Scale” (this will further reduce the marking time).
  7. Change File Type to “Tiff”.
  8. Select “Start” to begin scanning the test sheets.
  9. To add additional sheets to be scanned, place another stack of test sheets in the MFP scanning hopper (without the answer key) and perform steps 2 to 8 once again. Repeat for all remaining test sheets requiring scanning.
  10. Proceed to marking computer system to complete the marking process.  Further instructions can be found on the instruction sheet in this article.
