Office 365 Adding Accounts in Email Program

This article will explain how to set up email for faculty, staff, and students with Office 365: 

Sign in information:
For Students: Use your student email address, the last six digits of your student number followed by the first letter of your last name.
For Faculty and Staff: Use your firstname.lastname@acadiau.ca email address.
For Graduate Studies Students: Use your username@acadiau.ca, unless you opted to use your graduate email alias to also send email, in which case your username would then be your alias, firstnamelastname@acadiau.ca.

 

Outlook 2013/2016 (Windows)

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Click File, then Add Account.
  2. Fill in the required fields.
  3. Click Next, then Finish once it has set up the account.
  4. Close Outlook and reopen it.

Outlook 2011/2016 (Mac)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. If you see a "Welcome to Outlook:mac" splash intro, perform the following, otherwise skip to step #3:
    • Check "Make Outlook the default application for email, calendar, and contacts".
    • Click "Add Account" button.
    • Skip to step #5.
  3. Click on Outlook on the Menu bar and select Preferences.
  4. In the Outlook Preferences window click Accounts icon.
  5. Click the "+" symbol and select "Exchange."
  6. Fill in the required fields.
  7. The username should be your email address as well.
  8. Ensure the "configure automatically" option is checked if present.
  9. Click "Add Account."
  10. If prompted, check "always use my response for this server" and click Allow. It may prompt you several times.
  11. Close all preference windows.

If Outlook is unable to set up the account, ensure Office is up to date. Click on the Help menu then Check for Updates and follow the instructions to update Office.


Mac Mail

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Click on the Mail menu then go to Preferences.
  2. Click the Accounts tab.
  3. Click the "+" symbol and select "Exchange" or "Microsoft Exchange."
  4. Fill in the required fields.
  5. Click Sign In.
  6. If prompted for a server address, type "outlook.office365.com".
  7. If prompted for Internal/External URLs, leave the Internal URL blank and type "outlook.office365.com" in the External URL field.
  8. Close the preferences window.
