How to resolve account expiry notices

Overview

If you have received the notice: "Your Acadia network account username expires in xx days”, the following steps may be taken to avoid account expiry.How to resolve the receipt of account expiry notices.

The instructions include different solutions, based on whether you are a 

Students

Note: Account expiry notices are sent two weeks in advance, followed by another notice one week before the actual expiry date.

Situation:

  • Upon graduation, your network account will expire. The expiry date can be extended if more courses are being taken.
  • Therefore, if you are enrolled in courses for the next semester, your account remains active. 
  • As an Acadia Alumni, you maintain lifetime access to your email. See Office 365 for Alumni for an overview of access retained/revoked.

Faculty/Staff

Note: Account expiry notices are sent two weeks in advance, followed by another notice one week before the actual expiry date.

Situation

  • An employee will receive notices when their contract is reaching its end.
  • The employee's supervisor or department head must submit the appropriate forms to HR to extend access. This includes completing an updated Network Account Request.

Guests

Note: Account expiry notices are sent two weeks in advance, followed by another notice one week before the actual expiry date.

Situation

  • Guest accounts expire after one year.
  • A new request by the person or department from whom you acquired your original access must complete an completing an updated Network Account Request. Ensure that Guest account is selected. 
  • Retired employee accounts will expire, however email access is still be available. 

Retiree

Note: Account expiry notices are sent two weeks in advance, followed by another notice one week before the actual expiry date.

Situation

  • Retired employee accounts do expire. However email access is still be available.
